How to make CBD brownies

How to make CBD brownies

CBD’s amazing benefits for the mind and body have made it something of a cure-all in recent years. CBD has been found to reduce inflammation, pain, and insomnia, while helping promote calm and a sense of well-being. Recent research has even suggested that CBD may help address anxiety and possibly some neurodegenerative disorders.

The great thing is that even if you don’t like to smoke or vape CBD, you won’t be missing out. There are now loads of different ways you can consume CBD—and CBD brownies are definitely the most delicious!

What are CBD edibles?

From vapes to shakes to gummies, there are now endless options for getting your CBD fix! A CBD edible is any type of food product that’s been infused with a certain amount of cannabidiol. CBD extract is sourced from hemp, which is naturally high in CBD. The range of CBD edibles available is huge. Products are usually in the form of treats and include candies, gummies, chocolates, and other sweets.

When looking for an edible product, make sure you check whether it’s a CBD or marijuana edible. Marijuana edibles contain both CBD and THC, which means you’ll experience the ‘high’ that comes from THC. CBD edibles, on the other hand, contain only CBD so you won’t get those psychoactive side effects.

Another important point is that CBD edibles must first be broken down in your digestive system before they can be absorbed into your bloodstream and circulated throughout your body. This takes longer than simply breathing it in, which is why orally-ingested CBD has a lower bioavailability than smoked or vaped CBD.

CBD brownies: benefits and things to note

CBD-infused foods are an effective way to consume CBD—and while they have many benefits, there are also some drawbacks to be aware of.

The main benefit of CBD brownies is that they’re delicious! Who doesn’t like a brownie? And because edibles must first be broken down in your digestive system, the CBD content will be released gradually. This means you’ll experience the effects for longer—and they’ll impact your whole body, rather than just one area. They’re also easy to make. Once you have a tincture or isolate powder, you can easily make your own CBD edibles at home. Doing so allows you to choose your own dose.

Since edibles (like brownies) need to go through the digestion process, it takes longer for you to feel the effects. This means that they’re probably not the best choice if you experience acute pain or sudden anxiety and need immediate relief. And since everyone is different, you may experience different effects than someone else. Some users note headaches and fatigue among the side effects.

Make your own CBD oil brownies

Cannabinoids are hydrophobic and fat-soluble substances, which means they’re best absorbed when they bind with fats. This is why they’re often used in oil or butter infusions.

To make CBD edibles at home, you’ll need to start with a high quality CBD oil. To provide therapeutic benefits, a CBD edible should be pure and contain a combination of terpenes and cannabinoids. You can decide how strong you want your brownies to be.

Here’s a simple brownie recipe for any chef!

225g good-quality chocolate

¾ cup (170g) melted cannabutter or cannabis-infused cooking oil

1¼ cups (280g) sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

¾ cup (90g) all-purpose flour

¼ cup (30g) cocoa powder

1 teaspoon salt

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F.
  2. Break up chocolate into pieces. Melt half in a bain-marie and put aside the rest.
  3. Combine melted butter and sugar in a bowl.
  4. Beat in eggs and vanilla until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  5. When melted chocolate has cooled slightly, whisk it into the mixture.
  6. Combine sifted dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, salt) and sift.
  7. Add sifted dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and fold together with a plastic spatula. Don’t mix too thoroughly.
  8. Bake for approx. 20-25 minutes.
  9. Yum!

Final words

When you consume CBD alongside fatty and/or high-protein foods, the effects on your body last longer than if you eat them in a sugar form, such as with gummies or other candy. Wait at least two hours after eating a CBD edible. If you still don’t feel the effects, don’t eat another edible! Instead, eat something high in fat. This will help increase the effects.
