The cannabis industry is growing—fast. And the cannabis compound CBD, which is short for cannabidiol, has almost become mainstream among men seeking natural relief for symptoms of a wide range of conditions.
Verified CBD’s product lineup includes various options of CBD for men. Whether in the form of tinctures, edibles, capsules, or oils, CBD can help significantly reduce anxiety and stress, two of the most common causes of mental health disorders among men. It can also act as a mood booster, provide relief for pain and inflammation, and help improve your sex life.
Depression and anxiety are common mental health conditions that affect both men and women; however, men are less likely to reach out for help dealing with mental health problems.
Unfortunately, male depression can lead to serious symptoms, including feeling sad, hopeless, or empty. Fatigue is also common. Men with depression may find they have difficulty sleeping or sleep too much. In general, they will also lack positivity and no longer feel pleasure from activities they once enjoyed.
Men often think that their depression or anxiety is a weakness—but it’s far more common than they may realize. What’s more, there are numerous ways to deal with their feelings, and CBD oil may be a great place to start.
CBD contains a special molecule often referred to as the bliss molecule. By binding to special ‘docking stations’ in the body, cannabinoids help stimulate feelings of well being and calm. This, in turn, helps the digestive system to function properly, while also reducing anxiety and the stress response. The result is a more balanced, happier mood.
Further research suggests that CBD’s cannabinoids help to prevent anandamide from being broken down. The more anandamide floating around, the better you feel!
Along with its benefits for relieving stress and anxiety, CBD may also help to improve mood and regulate sleep patterns. It’s been suggested that CBD increases levels of serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter also known as your happy chemical. Serotonin plays a big part in emotional health, particularly in terms of sleep, mood, appetite, and pain. Low levels of serotonin have long been associated with a greater risk of depression and insomnia. By increasing levels of serotonin in your brain, your mood may improve.
Researchers have found that there are endocannabinoid receptors in men’s sexual reproductive organs, including the testicles. Some studies have even suggested that cannabinoids like CBD can boost libido (sex drive).
CBD’s ability to reduce anxiety may also have an indirect effect on libido. Those who worry about their performance in bed may find that the relaxing effect of CBD actually boosts their libido and sexual function. It’s important to note, however, that there’s also research showing that heavy or chronic use of cannabis can have the opposite effect and lower your sex drive—so don’t overdo it!
Men who suffer from the embarrassment of erectile dysfunction (ED) may have reason to look to CBD. For many years, traditional Ayurvedic practitioners have used cannabis sativa to aid sexual performance and reduce ED.
Although there’s no exact explanation for how this works, it’s suggested that CBD helps the blood vessels to relax, allowing blood to flow more efficiently. And when blood flows to the penis, erectile dysfunction is diminished and sex lasts longer. So far, only a small study has given evidence that CBD can help to reduce blood pressure in this way, but more research is pending.

In what may be the most interesting finding of all, research published in the Human Reproduction Journal suggests that men who use cannabis may have a higher sperm count than those who don’t. In a study involving 662 men, scientists tested semen and blood samples and gave the men a questionnaire about using cannabis.
The results showed that 11% of the men were using cannabis-based products. These men turned out to have a sperm count of 62.7 million per millimetre, compared to just 45.7 million for those who had never tried cannabis.
As mentioned above, however, too much cannabis may be detrimental to sex drive—so moderation is key.
One of the best-known benefits of CBD is its ability to reduce pain and inflammation, especially in conditions such as arthritis. Up until the age of 55, more men tend to be affected by arthritis than women. While arthritis pain can be treated with NSAIDs (including painkillers you can buy over the counter), the long-term effects of NSAIDs can be harmful.
CBD interacts with the cannabinoid receptors in your cells to provide a powerful anti-inflammatory effect response in the body. CBD binds with these receptors, and the result is a powerful anti-inflammatory effect that can help reduce the pain caused by arthritic joints and/or muscle spasms. This means that CBD oil and other products may benefit men with chronic pain, including osteoarthritis or back pain. It’s even found to be effective for neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia.
Studies in rats with arthritis show that regular doses of CBD help to reduce inflammation and pain in joints. Researchers concluded that CBD is not only effective for overall pain management, but that it won’t cause harmful side effects like NSAIDs. Of course, more studies need to be conducted to gauge exactly how effective CBD might be for people with serious arthritic conditions.
